In six prominent locations throughout the Western Cape, Faircape Restaurant and Catering, a division of Faircape Life retirement homes, serves meals to both village residents and patients at the on-site medical facilities.
A Front of House Manager is needed to be based in (Somerset West at Heritage Manor)
The job of the food service manager is to make sure that all residents receive a high-quality meal and refreshment service, including the bar. The person in the position will be fully accountable for managing the Restaurant, Bar, and Coffee Shop on a daily basis.

Specifically, but not exclusively, these tasks must be performed
Stock Management
Count your stock each week and each month.
Ordering of stock (to be approved by the village manager); coordination with the administrative officer; execution of delivery and follow-up.
Stock counts are received and updated each day.
Service for meals and refreshments
Manage the wait staff at the clubhouse and the medical center to provide comprehensive meal and refreshment services.
Every meal reservation
residents’ placements at the clubhouse
Unplanned beverage service (i.e cocktails on special occasions).
Lunchtime wine service should be complete.
Control the dining room’s afternoon tea and cake service.
A bar’s services
Work as a bartender in the dining room on certain evenings.
Daily, weekly, and monthly stock takes of beverages and glasses (with the Ops Manager)
Daily money up
Setting up for the meal and serving
Verify the table settings and the condition of the glassware, china, and cutlery on each table. Inform the village manager and the hospitality and training manager of any abnormalities.
See to it that each table gets a bowl of ice as asked.
Greetings to the residents.
Transfer praises and grievances to the food service manager.

Organize and control the waiters’ service at the coffee shop.
Organize the coffee shop’s inventory
all orders at the coffee shop are billed

Events
Assist the Village Manager with event set-up in the dining room (i.e themed and special lunches).
Meet and greet residents who are attending the event.
Assist with cleaning up after the event and making sure the décor is secure.
Area of the Clubhouse
Open umbrellas on the patio when the weather is excellent, then fold down at the end of the day.
Assist with event planning and cleanup at the activity center.
Ensure that all gaming equipment is accounted for and stored appropriately.
Daily Inspections
Perform daily checks on all clubhouse lights and equipment, notifying the village manager or maintenance manager of any issues.
Turn on the television and play some music as you eat.

Activate the air conditioner and confirm that the temperature is set properly.
Any issues with the housekeeping should be reported to the estate/maintenance manager.
Employee Management
All Waiters’ shifts and rosters
Make plans to replace the waitstaff.
approving all waiter hours each month
handling of client grievances as reported by the wait staff
Qualifications
Advantageous are senior certification and tertiary hospitality degrees
Competencies and qualities
Proven experience in the hospitality sector and/or a comparable setting Understanding of proper serving procedures and fundamental wine knowledge
basics of administration
proven administrative and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills, familiarity with computers, a focus on providing customer service, responsibility, accountability, and dedication
Prior executive experience is desirable

Front Of House Manager Working Times
According to the roster, the incumbent must perform 16.25 shifts each month. The typical work week is Monday through Sunday, from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm.
